BEREA, OHIO - One week after choking on a rock and nearly losing her life, junior Jamie Luketic (Rootstown) came back to help the Yellow Jacket Women finish second at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania Invitational. She ran her season best time of 24:51 to finish 13th.
The top finisher for B-W was All-OAC runner Jennifer Southall (Willoughby South) who finished fourth with a time of 23:32. Other scorers for the women were Lisa Bartkiewicz (Berea), who finished eighth with a time of 24:08, Megan Via (Brookville) who was 11th with a time of 24:37, Tatum Gruskiewicz (Williamsfield/Pymatuning Valley) whose time of 24:58 was good enough 15th place, Lindsay Bukovec (Willowick/Eastlake North) who came across the line in 25:01 which put her 17th, and Khara Sosko (Ellwood City, Pa./Riverside) who finished 19th with a time of 25:21.
Once again the Yellow Jacket Men were led by freshman Chris Buhovecky (Brunswick/Padua), who ran 28:31 to finish fifth overall.
In addition to Buhovecky, leading the men was Jason Ream (Burton/Berkshire) with a time of 28:53 which put him ninth. Brian Adkins's (Berea) time of 29:31 was third best for the Jackets and 17th best overall. The scoring was rounded out by Chris Smolinski (Parma/Padua) who finished 21st with a time of 29:38, John Townsend (Chardon) who clocked a 29:57 which was good for 29th place, Josh Fetzer (Ashland/Senior) whose 30:02 put him in 32nd place, and Jake Hatmaker (Ashtabula/Lakeside) who crossed the line in 39th place with a 30:26.
The Yellow Jackets will next run on Saturday, September 27 at the Otterbein Invitational at 10:15 a.m.
