The Women's Cross Country Team Places Sixth and the Men's Team Places

Tenth at the Division III All-Ohio Championship Meet in Delaware

BEREA, OHIO --  The Baldwin-Wallace College women's cross country team placed sixth out of 17 teams and the men's team placed tenth out of 22 teams at the Division III All-Ohio Championship Meet hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio.

The top finisher for B-W was sophomore All-Region Ashley Scullion (Kentwood, Mich./ East Kentwood) with an overall place of 23rd and a Division III place of fifth in a time of 19:18. Senior All-Region Megan Via (Brookville) was the next on the women's team to finish, she placed 17th with a time of 19:54. Spread out crossing the finish line were the remaining top seven runners, junior Lindsay Brickner (Lisbon/ David Anderson) finishing in 37th place and a time of 20:39, junior Kristen Balogh (Loveland) in 47th place with a time of 20:57, junior Amy Jenkins (Oak Harbor) with 54th place and a time of 21:18, senior Kelly Staruch (Hinckley/ Medina Highland) placing 60th in a time of 21:36 and freshman D'Arcy Hlavin (Berea) in 66th with a time of 21:43.

For the men, sophomore Derek Hill (Fremont) led the team with an overall place of 67th and a Division III placed of 16th with a time of 27:35.9. Finishing back-to-back were senior John Townsend (Chardon) and freshman Justin Tuckosh (Brook Park/ Midpark) placing 50th and 51st in times of 28:27.0 and 28:27.07 respectively. Finishing out the top seven were sophomore Nate Bowen (Fremont) in 63rd place with a time of 28:44.8, freshman James Eberts (North Canton/ Hover) placing 68th in a time of 28:50.7, junior Aaron Apathy (Parma/ Padua) with 88th place and a time of 29:31.5 and senior Bobby Phillips (Akron/ Manchester) finishing in 108th place with a time of 30:50.0.

Scullion, Via, and Hill all received Divsion III All-Ohio honors for finishing in the top 20 in their respected races.

Next weekend both the women's and men's team will travel to Pittsburgh, Pa. where they will compete in the Carnegie-Mellon Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 14th at 1:00 p.m. This will be the last invitational that the team competes in before the Ohio Athletic Conference Championship Meet on Saturday, Oct. 28 at 11:00 a.m. hosted by Heidelberg College in Tiffin, Ohio.
