BEREA, OHIO – Baldwin Wallace University junior Ken Janosko (Mentor) placed 66th of 279 total runners today (Saturday, November 19, 2011) at the 2011 NCAA Division III National Championship Meet hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

Jansosko, who was competing in his first national chanpionhsip, covered the 8K course in a time of 25:02 , which was the top finisher of any other Ohio Athletic Conference runner.

Janosko earned his trip to Wisconsin after placing sixth indiviudally at the NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional Championship hosted by Oberlin College on Saturday, November 12. It marked Janosko’s second straight All-Great Lakes Region finish (Top-35 runners).  A year ago, he did not qualify for the the national meet despite being named All-Region.

Ken ran a great race,” said veteran Yellow Jacket Head Coach Dr. Bill Taraschke. “He competed to the best of his ability. As a coach, that is all you can ask of a student-athlete.  With Ken achieving this goal of qualifying for the national meet this year, he can set his sights higher for future and try to become an All-American.”

“ Each season, Ken continues to get better and better.  And, that isn’t by accident. He has worked very hard to accomplish many of his goals. He once again beat every OAC runner just as he did at the Regional Meet and that was impressive to see.” said Taraschke.

This season, Janosko led the Yellow Jacket men in ever race this year as well as finishing in the top ten in six of eight meets. His lone first place finish came in the first race of the season at the College of Wooster Invitational in Wooster.  At this year’s OAC Championships, Janosko was the runner-up as he crossed the finish line of the 8K course in a time of 25:44.8.
