Baldwin-Wallace College Men Ninth and Women Fifth at Calvin (Mich.) College Knight Invitational

GRAND RAPIDS, MICHIGAN -- The Baldwin-Wallace College men’s cross country team finished ninth and the women’s team was fourth today (Saturday, September 10, 2011) at the annual Calvin (Mich.) College Knight Invitational.
The Yellow Jacket men scored 252 points to finish in seventh. Calvin won the event with 37 points with three runners finishing in the top six. The B-W women scored 165 points to place fourth. Calvin was the women’s champion with 27 points and had four runners finish in the top-10 including the top two individuals.
Junior Kenneth Janosko (Mentor) placed seventh of 201 runners and completed the course in 24:53.32 and was followed by senior Zach Szablewski (Tiffin/ Calvert) finishing 53rd. Senior Tom Wilkin (Powell/ Olentangy Liberty) was 65th, senior Drew Beck (Canandaigua, N.Y./ Canandaigua Academy) was 59th, junior David Gerding (Strongsville) finished 81st place, sophomore Dusan Vasic (Broadview Heights/ Brecksville-Broadview Heights) was 85th.
In addition to the top five runners, freshman Greg Blevins (Mentor) finished 98th, sophomore Stephen Humbert (Middletown/ Lakota East) was 104th, freshman Isaac Baker (Lithia, Fla./Newsome) was 143th, senior Michael Sisko (Olmsted Falls) was 152nd, senior Brian Gibbins (Rocky River) was 154 and senior and Justin Brown (Sandusky) was 190th.
Junior Sarah Rospert (Milan/ Edison) led the women as she was 22nd and completed the 5K course in 18:40.30. She was followed by the junior duo of Tess Hoogeveen (Westerville/ South), who was 41st in 19:20.6 and Shaina Kovatch (Parma/ Valley Forge), who was 51st in 19:35.4. The sophomore quartet of Jamie Clapacs (Willoughby Hills/Willoughby South), who finished 52nd in 19:35.7; Brooke Hradisky (Aurora), who was 55th in 19:36.8; Lauren Hutka (North Ridgeville/ Grafton Midview) in 71st place with a time of 19:53.8 and Blair Vrcan (Mentor) was 124th in 20:46.5.
In addition, junior Lynn Fahy (Ontario, N.Y./ Wayne Central) was 132nd in 20:56.1; senior Julie Kotesovec (Litchfield Twp./ Medina Buckeye) was 141st in 21:13; senior Judy Patterson (Aliquippa, Pa./ Monaca Center) was 146th in 21:36.8; freshmen Bryn Allen (Chardon) was 156th in 21:57.9 and Paris Sulzer (Parma Heights/ Valley Forge) was 185th in 25:18.3.
The Yellow Jackets are back in action in two weeks when they travel to Cedarville on Saturday, Sept. 30 to compete in the All-Ohio Championships hosted by Cedarville University at 2:00 p.m.
