Ninth of 22 Division-III Teams
CEDARVILLE, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College men’s and women’s cross country teams both competed in the All-Ohio Championships today (September 30, 2011) hosted by Cedarville University. The men’s team finished 27th of 45 teams from all divisions of NCAA and NAIA as well as finising ninth of 22 Division-III teams. The women’s team finished 20th of 47 teams and finished ninth of 22 teams in Division-III.
The Yellow Jacket men were led by, junior Kenneth Janosko (Mentor) who finished 39th overall out of 310 total runners and fourth of 147 Division-III runners in a time of 26:03.20. Following Janosko was freshman Greg Blevins (Mentor), who crossed the finish line in a time of 27:42.25 as he placed 160th overall and 55th. Senior Thomas Wilkin (Powell/ Olentangy Liberty) placed 167th and 60th in a time of 27:50.77, junior David Gerding (Strongsville) placed 175th and 65th in 27:55.15, senior Zach Szablewski (Tiffin/ Calvert) finished 201st and 84th in 28:15.07, sophomore Dusan Vasic (Broadview Heights/ Brecksville-Broadview Heights) placed 203rd and 85th in 28:15.76 and Drew Beck (Canandaigua, N.Y./ Canandaigua Academy) was 210th and 91st as he crossed the finish line in time of 28:28.32.
In the open meet, B-W was led by senior Nick Jeffers (South Amherst/ Firelands) as he placed 71st in a time of 28:11.39. Following Jeffers was sophomore Stephen Humbert (Middletown/ Lakota East) who finished in 73rd at 28:12.56, freshman Issac Baker (Lithia, Fla./Newsome) was 166th and in a time of 29:20.94, senior Michael Sisko (Olmsted Falls) placed 170th in 29:23.33 and senior Justin Brown (Sandusky) placed 278th in 32:32.41.
For the women’s team, junior Sarah Rospert (Milan/ Edison) led the Yellow Jackets as she finished 80th overall out of 317 total runners and 27th of 150 Division-III runners in a time of 19:19.27. Following Rospert was junior Lauren McGaughey (Allison Park, Pa./ Hampton) who finished 109th and 42nd in a time of 19:42.54, junior Tess Hoogeveen (Westerville/ South) was 116th and 44th and crossed the finish line in a time of 19:48.95, junior Shaina Kovatch (Parma/ Valley Forge) was 146th and 59th in a time of 20:06.94, sophomore Brooke Hradisky (Aurora) placed 151st and 61st in 20:08.72, sophomore Jamie Clapacs (Willoughby Hills/ Willoughby South) finished 157th and 64th in 20:16.28 and sophomore Lauren Hutka (North Ridgeville/ Midview) finished 188th and 82nd and crossed the finish line in a time of 20:46.00.
In the open meet, B-W was led by freshman Paris Sulzar (Parma Heights/ Valley Forge) as she finished in 93rd place and crossed the finish line in a time of 21:11.94. Following Sulzar was senior Julie Kotesovec (Litchfield Twp./Medina Buckeye) who placed 136th in a time of 21:46.60, senior Judy Patterson (Aliquippa, Pa./ Monaca Center) was 146th in a time of 21:50.44, junior Lynne Fahy (Ontario, N.Y./ Wayne Central) finished 164th in 22:03.43 and freshman Bryn Allen (Chardon) placed 234th in 24:10.06.
The Yellow Jackets are back in action in two weeks when they travel to nearby Oberlin on Saturday, Oct. 15 to compete in the Oberlin Inter-Regional hosted by Oberlin College at 10:30 a.m.
