Memorial Invitational in Bowling Green
BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College women's cross country team finished in a tie for second out of three Division III schools and second of 19 schools overall at the Mel Brodt Memorial Invitational hosted by Bowling Green State University. The men's team placed third amongst four Division III teams and fifth out of 19 teams in the open competition.
On the women's side, freshman Ashley Scullion (Kentwood, Mich.) led the way for the Yellow Jackets by placing third out of Division III runners and seventh overall with a time of 18:57. Coming in right behind Scullion was junior Megan Via (Brookville), with a fourth place finish out of Division III runners and eight overal with a time of 18:57. Finishing out the top five runners was senior Rebecca Price (Worthington/ Thomas Worthington), 13th in Division III and 27th overall with a time of 20:25, sophomore Kristen Balogh (Loveland), 14th in Division III and 30th overal with a time of 20:34, and sophomore Amy Jenkins (Oak Harbor), 16th in Division III and 33rd overall with a time of 20:41.
On the men's side, sophomore D.J. Hanigosky (North Royalton/ St. Ignatius) led the way for the Yellow Jackets by placing second out of Division III runners and sixth overall with a time of 26:26. Finishing up the top five was runners was junior Chris Buhoveckey (Brunswick/ Padua), tenth in Division III and 18th overall with a time of 27:23, freshman Nate Bowen (Fremont), 12th in Division III and 22nd overall with a time of 27:34, sophomore Aaron Apathy (Parma/ Padua), 17th in Division III and 37th overall with a time of 28:03, and freshman Derek Hill (Fremont), 28th in Division III and 52nd overall with a time of 28:53.
Both the men's and women's cross country teams will return to action two weekends from now when they travel to Wilmington on Saturday, Sept. 24 to compete in the Wilmington Invitational beginning at 4:30 p.m.
