Championships for Sixth Straight Year
BEREA, OHIO -- Baldwin-Wallace College campus radio station WBWC, 88.3 FM, will again serve as the host site for Basketball Championship Weekend in the Ohio Athletic Conference on Friday and Saturday, February 27-28, 2004. It marks the sixth straight year that WBWC has been the flagship station for the OAC Basketball Tournament. In addition, the games will be available via the Internet by logging onto either the B-W or OAC sites (see below for the addresses).
On Friday, WBWC will broadcast the men's semi final games at 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. from the site of the highest remaining seeded team. On Saturday, WBWC will broadcast the OAC Women's Championship Game at 3:00 p.m. and the Men's Championship Game at 7:30 p.m. WBWC Sports Director Pete Goche and Dave Kich will bring fans all of the women's action. Matt Florjancik and Andy Newcomer will call the men's games.
"We are happy to have WBWC carry the men's semi final and final as well as the women's championship game," said OAC Commissioner Tim Gleason. "We have had good success with utilizing the services that WBWC provides our fans. Both championships should be very exciting and we are glad that they will be avilable to our fans on both WBWC and via the Internet."
The brackets for the 2004 OAC Men's and Women's Basketball Championships will be available on both the B-W and OAC Web Sites this Sunday night. Action begins with first round play for men and women on Monday, February 23 with the No. 10 seed traveling to No. 7 and No. 9 traveling to No. 8. Tuesday, Feb. 24 is the women's quarter final round and on Wednesday, Feb. 25 is the men's quarter final round. The women's semi final games on two separate campus sites take place on Thursday, Feb. 26. The men's Final Four is on Friday and both championship games are contested on Saturday. The winner of each OAC Tournament title will receive the OAC's automatic berth in the 2004 NCAA Division III National Tournament which begins the first week of March.
