BEREA, OHIO -- Baldwin-Wallace College is losing an outstanding and valuable member of its football coaching staff. Offensive Line Coach Ron Bendekovic is leaving B-W to become the new Offensive Coordinator at Ohio Athletic Conference rival Ohio Northern University. It is Bendekovic's second stint at the Ada, Ohio school.
"Coach Bendekovic had a great influence on me and is a fine person and outstanding coach," said Yellow Jacket senior All-American offensive guard Ian Formaz of Wadsworth. "We all wish him well at Ohio Northern. It is a great loss to the B-W football family and a big gain at ONU. We all wish him well in his new endeavor except when he is playing B-W."
Bendekovic, a 1993 graduate of Allegheny (Pa.) College where he was a three-time All-North Coast Athletic Conference player and two-time NCAA Division III All-American, has been at B-W for the past two years. He previously coached at ONU (1993-94), Ohio University (1994-95), Kentucky State University (1995-98), Marietta College (1998-2001) and Lenoir-Rhyne (N.C.) College (2001-2002).
"Coach Bendekovic is a excellent motivator and a person of high integrity," said 2002 Yellow Jacket captain and Academic All-American Matt Kish, now a history teacher and football coach at the high school level. "He brings out the best in each individual. He is an outstanding tactician. He will be missed."
