The Baldwin Wallace University Baseball Team Loses to the College of Wooster, 13-3, in Wooster

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin Wallace University baseball team lost to number two ranked College of Wooster, 13-3, today (March 29) at the Art Murray Field in Wooster. With its loss, the Yellow Jackets fall to 9-6 overall and next play a doubleheader at Muskingum College in New Concord in the Ohio Athletic Conference opener on Saturday, April 1 at 1:00 p.m.

The Yellow Jackets trailed 2-1 after three innings of play before Wooster took control of the game with a series of two-run innings in the fourth and fifth to lead 7-2 after six innings. The Fighting Scots added two more runs in the bottom of the seventh before ending any possible BW comeback with a four-run eighth inning en route to the 13-3 final

At the plate, BW was outhit as a team 12-5. Leading the way for the Yellow Jackets was senior outfielder Dan Melito (Massillon/ Washington) who went two-of-three with a run scored. Seniors Matt Wilson (Canton/ Jackson) and Mike Farrell (Wickliffe) along with freshman Cody Kidd (Wellington) each recorded a base hit despite the loss.

On the mound, junior Jim Wochele (Richmond Heights) was given the loss and is now 2-2 overall for the season. He pitched five innings and allowed six total runs, five earned, on seven hits with five walks and five strikeouts.

Following its trip to Muskingum, BW will return home to host Cleveland rival Case in a single nine-inning game at Heritage Field on Tuesday, Apr. 4 at 3:30 p.m.
