BW Baseball Team Defeats St. Vincent (Pa.), 22-4, on its Spring Break Trip in Ft. Myers, Florida

BEREA, OHIO The Baldwin Wallace University baseball team defeated St. Vincent (Pa.) College, 22-4, today (Friday, March 9, 2007) on its annual spring break trip at the Gene Cusic Classic Tournament in Ft. Myers, Florida. It is the second to last game on the trip for BW.

The Yellow Jackets, 4-4 overall, ended a brief two-game losing streak. St. Vincent is 5-4 overall after its loss.

On the mound, senior righthander Clayton Kynkor (Auburn Township/ Kenston) started and earned the win to improve to 2-0 overall. Kynkor pitched six strong innings for the second straight start, allowed six hits, four earned runs, struck out four and allowed one base-on-balls. Senior righthander J.D. Fullerton (Cuyahoga Falls) came in and pitched a scoreless inning to finish the game. He has not allowed an earned run in four appearances on the trip and spanning five and two-thirds innings pitched.

Offensively, sophomore leftfielder Mike Brisky (Berea) led the 19-hit attack with five base hits, including his first homerun of the season. He also had a double, three runs scored and four runs batted-in. Sophomore centerfielder Cody Kidd (Wellington) and senior catcher Bob Storesina (Canton/GlenOak) each had three hits, including homeruns. Kidd got on base five times and scored five runs. Storesina's homer was his second on the trip and he had four RBI. In addition, sophomore designated hitter Matt Bolte (Jupiter, Fla./ William T. Dwyer) had three base hits, including a double, grand slam homer and six RBI.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Saturday, March 9 when they play St. Vincent on the final game of tghe trip at 1:00 p.m. The Yellow Jackets also open northern play on Sunday, March 18 when they play a doubleheader at Urbana University at 1:00 p.m.
