Plays Albion (Mich.) and Haverford (Pa.) in Final Two on Spring Trip
BEREA, OHIO — The Baldwin-Wallace College baseball team dropped a 12-7 decision to rival Ohio Wesleyan University on Thursday (March 10) on its annual spring break trip to Ft. Myers, Florida where the Yellow Jackets play in the Gene Cusic Classic. B-W now plays Albion (Mich.) College today (March 11) in a single game and then ends its seven-day, seven-game trip to the Sunshine State when it plays Haverford (Pa.) College on Saturday (March 12).
With its loss to OWU, B-W fell to 3-2 on its trip. An eight-run fourth inning by the Bishops that was aided by four Yellow Jacket errors was the decisive factor in this contest. Until the fateful top of the fourth, B-W led OWU, 3-0.
At the plate, senior catcher Adam Pajakowski (South Bend, Ind./ St. Joseph's) led the 15-hit Yellow Jacket attack with three. Senior shortstop Jason Albright (Camp Hill, Pa./ East Pennsboro), sophomore third baseman Nick Quarando (Amherst/ Steele), senior pitcher/ designated hitter Mike Turchan (Mayfield), junior centerfielder Matt Green (Elyria/ Senior) and junior second baseman Kevin Brown (Cuyahoga Falls) each had a pair of hits. Quarando and Turchan each hit their second homeruns of the season.
On the mound, Turchan received the loss and fell to 0-1 as he allowed three earned runs in four innings pitched (10 total runs and seven unearned). Senior Andrew Russell (Indianapolis, Ind./ Eastern Hanocock) and sophomore John Meggitt (Fremont/ Clyde) followed Turchan on the hill.
