BW Baseball Team Loses to Marietta College in Tiffin, 5-1, in the First Round of the OAC Tournament
BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin Wallace University baseball team lost in the first round of the Ohio Athletic Conference tournament today to Marietta College, 5-1, in Tiffin and at Heidelberg College. After the loss, the Yellow Jackers are now 24-16 overall. Marietta is now 30-11 overall.
In the game, Marietta scored two runs in the second inning, one in the third, one in the fifth, and one in the seventh off junior left hander Dale Koler (Brunswick). Koler went seven innings allowing five runs on six hits and striking out five. He also walked four batters. His record falls to 5-5 on the season.
Senior Academic All-OAC outfielder Brian Keller (Vermilion), senior two-time All-OAC and All-Mideast region shortstop Jim Leffler (Chagrin Falls) and senior designated hitter Jason Elias (Warren/ Harding) had hits for the Jackets, who managed only three hits as a team. Offensively, sophomore center fielder Nick Slater (Wooster/ Norwayne) scored the lone run for BW in the ninth inning.
The Yellow Jackets will be back in action on Friday, May 9, when they play the loser of the Heidelberg versus Otterbein game at Peaceful Field beginning at 1:00 p.m.
