BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College baseball team lost a non-conference game today, 7-5, against Tiffin College in Tiffin. With the loss, the Jackets fall to 6-5 on the year and have their four-game winning streak snapped. Tiffin improves to 7-6 on the season. The Jackets will look to rebound when they travel to Urbana University for a non-conference doubleheader on Sunday, March 23rd, starting at 1:00 p.m.
Sophomore Mike Turchan (Mayfield) started the game for the Jackets and allowed all seven runs in five innings. It was the first loss of the season for Turchan whose record now stands at 1-1. Fellow sophomore hurler Bob Glavan (Mentor) pitched a scoreless sixth inning in relief. The Yellow Jacket offense was led by senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference first baseman Pat Shannon (Madison, Connecticut/Daniel Hand H.S.) with two hits. Junior third baseman Ryan Petraitis (Akron/Manchester H.S.) added two hits and scored two runs. Sophomore second baseman Jason Albright (Camp Hill, Pa./East Pennsboro H.S.) and sophomore catcher Adam Pajakowski (South Bend, Ind./St. Joseph's H.S.) both had two hits and an RBI for the Jackets.Following its doubleheader at Urbana, B-W will be on the road for a non-conference game on Wednesday, March 26th against Malone College. The Jackets will open up the Ohio Athletic Conference season on Saturday, March 29th when they host Muskingum College in an OAC doubleheader in Berea at Heritage Field starting at 1:00 p.m.
