B-W Baseball Loses to Albion (Mich.), 8-1, at the Gene Cusic Classic in Ft. Myers, Florida

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College baseball team dropped an 8-1 decision today to Albion (Mic.) College at the Gene Cusic Classic in Ft. Myers, Florida. B-W is on its spring break.

With its loss, the Yellow Jackets are now 2-4 overall. Despite the loss to Albion, there were a few B-W highlights. Senior two-time All-Ohio Athletic Conference and All-Mideast Region shortstop Jim Leffler (Chagrin Falls) had a pair of hits to break out of a slow start in which he entered the game batting just .172. Leffler had a pair of singles and drove in fellow senior Dave Riede (Cuyahoga Falls/ Walsh Jesuit) for the only run of the game. Riede reached base as he was hit by a pitch and advanced to second on an Albion error. In addition, freshman pitcher Chris Anderson (Bellefontaine) threw well in relief of starter Andrew Greenley (Woodmere/ Elmore).

The Yellow Jackets will return to action tomorrow when they play Eastern Nazarene College at 9:00 a.m. Then on Friday, B-W will end its southern trip with two games. They open the day by playing Transylvania State (Ky.) at 9:00 a.m. and then face sixth-ranked The College of Wooster at noon.
