Baldwin-Wallace College Baseball Team Loses Twice at Urbana University, 13-1 and 4-3

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College baseball team lost a pair of games at NAIA foe Urbana University, 13-1 and 4-3, today (Sunday, March 18) in Urbana, Ohio.

With its losses, the Yellow Jackets fall to 5-6 overall and Urbana improves to 12-5 overall.

In the first game, Urbana pounded out 14 base hits and scored in each of the first four innings to build a 9-0 lead. Urbana added four more runs in the bottom of the sixth for a 13-0 lead before B-W scored its run in the seventh.

In the nightcap, B-W scored three times in the top of the first inning before Urbana added one in the bottom of the first and two more in the second to tie it at 3-3. The game stayed that way until the final inning.  The winning run scored in the bottom of the seventh inning with the bases loaded when an Urbana batter was hit-by-pitch.

At the plate, junior rightfielder Kevin Shenker (Twinsburg) had B-W’s lone hit in the first game. In the nightcap, junior leftfielder Mike Brisky (Berea) led the offense with two hits, including a double and a run-scoring double in the first inning.  On the mound, senior Clayton Kynkor (Auburn Township/ Kenston) took the first game loss and senior Jim Wochele (Richmond Heights) was saddled with the loss in the nightcap.

B-W next plays on Thursday, March 22 when it hosts nonleague foe Notre Dame College (Ohio) at 1:00 p.m. in a varsity and then junior varsity doubleheader at Heritage Field on the B-W campus. B-W also hosts Walsh University on Sunday, March 25 in another varsity/ J.V. twinbill at 1:00 p.m.
