The Baldwin Wallace University Baseball Team Beats Myers, 21-2 in Berea

BEREA, OHIO --  The Baldwin Wallace University baseball team defeated non-league foe Myers University, 21-2, today (Thursday, April 19, 2007) at Heritage Field in Berea.

With its win, the Yellow Jackets improve to 11-15 overall. With its loss, Myers is now 5-25 overall.
The Mustangs jumped out to a 1-0 lead with a run in the top of the first inning before BW took the lead in the bottom half of that inning with two runs.  In the second inning, BW scored six runs while batting around.  The Yellow Jackets tacked on two more in the third and three more in the fifth.  Myers scored its final run in the top of the seventh.  In the bottom of the seventh, BW added another run, and again batted around in the eighth, tallying 7 runs.

Offensively, BW was led by sophomore catcher/designated hitter Matt Bolte (Jupiter, Fla./William T. Dwyer) who was four-for-five at the plate with five runs batted in and three runs scored.  Junior outfielder Mike Brisky (Berea) also had a four-hit day in six tries, scoring one run and driving in three.  Four other Yellow Jackets tallied multiple hits as the Yellow Jackets saw 11 players get hits overall.

On the mound, senior pitcher Brian Pille (Lorain/Catholic) started and earned his first win of the season, improving to 1-3, while pitching five innings.  Pille gave up just one run on three hits and struck out four.  Senior reliever J.D.Fullerton (Cuyahoga Falls) pitched the sixth and seventh innings, giving up one run on four hits, while striking out four.  In the eighth inning, senior catcher/closer Bob Storesina (Canton/Glenoak) closed out the game.

The Yellow Jackets return to action on Saturday, April 21 when they host an Ohio Athletic Conference doubleheader against Wilmington College at 1:00 p.m. BW ends the week by hosting Lake Erie College in a single game on Sunday, April 22 at Heritage Field at 3:00 p.m.
