Baldwin Wallace University Baseball Team Defeated, 4-0, at Malone

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin Wallace University baseball team fell to Malone College, 4-0, today (Tuesday, March 27, 2007) in a nonleague game at Bob Starcher Field in Canton.

With its loss, the Yellow Jackets are now 6-7 overall and next play on Thursday, March 29 when they face the nationís number one-ranked NCAA Division III team in The College of Wooster (15-0 overall) in their home opener at Heritage Field at 1:00 p.m.

The Pioneers acquired their runs in the first, third, seven and eight inning while the Yellow Jackets gained only four hits and were shut out.

On the mound for Baldwin Wallace was senior Brian Pille (Lorain/Catholic) who pitched six innings and gave up three runs. Freshman Justin Novak (Strongsville) entered the game in the sevent inning to pitch three innings of relief and gave up one run. For the Pioneers, Ryan Hartong went the distance to ear the win while throwing nine strike outs and giving up two base on balls.

Following its game against Wooster on Thursday, BW will remain at home and open 2007 Ohio Athletic Conference play on Saturday, March 31 by hosting Capital University in a doubleheader at Heritage Field at 1:00 p.m.

Saturdayís games versus Capital is being billed as "BW Baseball to Benefit Bluffton College Baseball".
