Turchan Hits Home Run to Give B-W a 4-3 Victory Over Albion in Final At Bat; B-W is 2-0

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College baseball team continued its winning ways by defeating Albion College 4-3 in Fort Myers, Florida on Monday afternoon.

With the win, the Yellow Jackets improve to a perfect 2-0 on the season.

One day after beating up Wooster with 17 hits, B-W managed only four in a pitcher’s dual against Albion.  Senior centerfielder Greg Wisniewski (Brunswick) led the attack with a pair of singles and junior Mike Turchan (Mayfield) hit a two run home run in the top of the seventh to put the Jackets up for good.

In the bottom of the first Albion tallied three runs off of four hits and would lead 3-0.  The score remained that way until the sixth when Wisniewski and Turchan started the inning with back-to-back walks.  Wisniewski would later score on a fielder’s choice followed by an RBI double by junior Jim Yezbak (Strongsville) to make the score 3-2 Albion after six innings.  In the top of the seventh sophomore Kevin Brown (Cuyahoga Falls) walked and would later score on Turchan’s second home run of the season giving B-W the 4-3 win.

Junior pitcher Bob Glavan (Mentor) pitched five innings giving up two earned runs before he gave way to junior Lawrence Hall (Elyria) who pitched one scoreless inning and struck out two to earn the win.  Junior Aaron Krieger (Bellefontaine) pitched a scoreless seventh to earn his second save of the year.

The Yellow Jackets will continue play in Fort Myers, Fla. on March 8 as they play a doubleheader against Eastern Nazarene College out of Massachusetts beginning at 4:00 p.m.
