The BW Baseball Team Stretches its Winning Streak to Four With a 7-4 Win Versus Thiel (Pa.)

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin Wallace University baseball team won its fourth straight game and improved to 7-2 overall today (March 12) with a 7-4 win versus Thiel College of Pennsylvania on its annual spring break trip to Ft. Myers, Florida. The Yellow Jackets will play Worcester (Mass.) Polytechnic Institute tomorrow (March 13) in their final spring break contest.

In today's win versus Thiel, the BW offense pounded out 12 more base hits and made a winner out of reliever Lawrence Hall (Elyria Senior).

The offense was led by junior third baseman Mike Turchan (Mayfield Heights/ Mayfield) with four base hits. Turchan is now batting .563 after nine contests. In addition, junior leftfielder Greg Wisniewski (Brunswick) had three base hits, scored two runs and drove in another, and sophomore centerfielder Matt Green (Elyria Senior) had two hits, scored twice and drove in another runner.

Junior righthander Bob Glavan (Mentor) started the game on the mound and allowed nine hits and four earned runs in six and two-third innings before giving way to Hall on the seventh. Hall allowed just one base hit in one and one-third innings of work to earn the win, his second of the season against zero losses. Junior Aaron Krieger (Bellefontaine) came on in the ninth inning to record his third save of the year and keep his earned run average at a perfect 0.00.

Following its game tomorrow versus WPI, BW will return to Berea on Sunday (March 14) and opens northern play on Saturday, March 20 with a doubleheader at traditional rival Wittenberg University in Springfield at 1:00 p.m.
