The Baldwin Wallace University Baseball Team Loses to Nonleague Foe Malone

College, 22-11, at Heritage Field in Berea

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin Wallace University baseball team lost today in nonleague action to Malone College, 22-11, in eight innings at Heritage Field in Berea. The game was scheduled to be a nine inning game, but would be called after the eighth due to darkness.

With the loss, the Yellow Jackets are now 18-14. With its win, Malone improves to 17-20. BW ends the OAC season with a pair of games at home against Capital University this Saturday (May 8) at 1:00 p.m.

BW trailed Malone, 6-4, after three innings of play before the Pioneers would break the game open with a six-run fourth inning. The Yellow Jackets scored two runs of their own in the bottom of the fourth to cut the lead to 12-6. Malone's Mike Novak then hit a grand slam in the fifth to extend the lead to 16-6. Despite scoring three runs in the same inning, BW would not get any closer as Malone went on to the 22-11 win.

Offensively for the Yellow Jackets, senior outfielder Greg Wisniewski (Brunswick) and junior catcher Adam Pajakowski (South Bend, Ind./ St. Joseph's) were both two-of-four from the plate. Wisniewski also had two runs batted in. Junior third baseman Mike Turchan (Mayfield), sophomore right fielder Dan Melito (Massillon Washington) and junior first baseman Jim Yezbak (Strongsville) all were two-of-five at the plate. Turchan also had two RBI, Melito and Yezbak each had one.

On the mound for BW, eight pitchers saw action in the game. Senior Cal Snyder (East Canton) was given the loss and fell to 1-4 for the season.
