BEREA, OHIO — Five Baldwin-Wallace College baseball players have been named to the 2008 All-Ohio Athletic Conference team, including four to the second-team that also includes a pair of repeat honorees.
The four named to the All-OAC second-team are senior shortstop Nick Radca (Amherst/ Marion Steele), senior designated hitter Kevin Shenker (Twinsburg), junior centerfielder Cody Kidd (Wellington) and junior first baseman Riley Kreisher (Ashtabula/ Edgewood). In addition, senior leftfielder Shaun Slater (Wooster/ Norwayne) was tabbed to the honorable mention group. Kidd and Kreisher are second-team All-OAC choices for the second straight season.
Kidd batted a career-high .387 this season with career-highs of 60 base hits in 155 at-bats with nine doubles, four triples and 26 runs batted-in. He also scored 34 runs and stole 14 bases in 17 attempts. In three seasons, Kidd has compiled a .375 career batting average (122-of-325) with 91 runs scored, 13 doubles, eight triples, three homers, 52 RBI and 40 stolen bases. An outstanding defensive player, he has a .981 career fielding average with nine assists. He also is an Academic All-OAC student-athlete (2007 with the 2008 team scheduled to be released on May 20) and a two-time ESPN THE MAGAZINE Academic All-District IV choice.
Kreisher batted .340 overall (51-of-150) with 27 runs scored, a school single-season record 18 doubles, four triples, two homeruns and team-high 29 RBI. He also earned OAC Hitter of the Week on May 5. For his career, Kreisher is batting .346 overall (113-of-327) with 67 runs scored, 28 doubles, six triples, six homers, 72 RBI and four stolen bases. He also is an outstanding fielder with a .993 career fielding average.
Radca batted a career-high .388 overall (47-of-121) with career-highs in at-bats, runs scored (27), base hits, doubles (five), triples (one), RBI (25) and stolen bases (four). He also had a solid .944 fielding average. For his career, Radca batted .311 overall (85-of-273) with 67 runs scored, 12 doubles, two triples, 42 RBI and seven stolen bases.
Shenker also had his best season by far as a collegian in 2008. He batted a team-leading and career-high .418 overall (38-of-91) and had career-highs in at-bats, runs scored (26), doubles (five), triples (one), homers (one), RBI (23) and stolen bases (three). For his career, Shenker batted .324 overall (45-of-139) with 30 runs scored, seven doubles, one homer and 33 RBI. In addition to his DH duties, he also played some outfield and was a three-year member of the pitching staff. He made 16 career appearances and had a 1-2 record with 16 strikeouts in 26 and two-third innings of action.
Slater also had his best season as a collegian in ‘08. He batted a career-high .409 overall (56-of-137) with career-highs in at-bats, base hits, runs scored (29), doubles (13) and RBI (27). During his career, he batted better than .300 in three of four seasons. Overall, Slater batted .349 (123-of-352) with 64 runs scored, 23 doubles, three homers, 71 RBI and three stolen bases in three attempts.
