Volleyball Team Moves Up in Division III National Rankings to #12
BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin Wallace University volleyball team moved from 13th to 12th in this week's American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) national Division III rankings. The #12-ranking is the highest ever for the Yellow Jacket program. BW last played on Tuesday, Oct. 29, when it defeated Ohio Athletic Conference rival and regionally-ranked Capital University at the Ursprung Gymnasium in Berea, 3-0, and by the scores of 30-12, 30-20 and 30-21. The win awas also BW's ninth straight. Highlighting the victory was a career-high 34-dig performance by senior defensive specialist Kate Kost (Fairview Park). With her 34 digs, Kost became just the second player in OAC history to surpass 2,000 career digs and has 2,023 overall. She is now just 24 digs shy of breaking Mandy Simmerman's (Otterbein, 1998-2001) OAC record of 2,046. The Yellow Jackets, 25-4 overall and 7-1 in the OAC next play on Friday, November 1 when they travel to play Marietta College at 7:00 p.m. On Saturday, the Yellow Jackets will play a tri-match at Walsh University in Canton against Walsh, the #11-ranked team in NAIA, and NCAA Division II Cornerstone (Mich.) College.
