Luke Izer

BW Class of 1962 | Induction Class of 1995

Luke Izer ’62 was a four-year standout in both football and baseball at Baldwin Wallace University.

Izer earned a total of eight varsity letters and never missed a game in his collegiate career. In each of his last two seasons on the gridiron, Izer earned All-Ohio honors. As a senior, he was named BW’s Most Outstanding Lineman and received an invitation to play in the East-West All-Star game. In his four seasons on the diamond, Izer posted a .330 batting average and was selected as Most Valuable Player as a senior. Izer also was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity.

Following graduation, Izer went on to a successful career coaching in the high school ranks. In 22 seasons as head baseball coach at Sandy Valley High School, he won 312 games with numerous sectional and district titles. He also was inducted into the Ohio Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame in 1984.
