Barclay J. Sanders

Barclay J. Sanders graduated from Baldwin-Wallace College in 1934 and was an All-Ohio and All-Big Four offensive back for the Yellow Jackets. He was the first regular forward-passing back in B-W gridiron history. “Barky” played under the legendary Ray Watts in high school at West Tech and rejoined his mentor at B-W after transferring from Ashland University.
Following graduation from B-W, Sanders went on to lead high school football teams at Solon and Brecksville and won two championships in four years. He also coached the girl’s basketball teams to a total of 18 championships.
In addition to his coaching career, “Barky” continued his contributions at B-W by serving as a linesman and a timer at Yellow Jacket athletic events.
