B-W Lands League-High Seven Student-Athletes on Men’s Academic All-OAC At-Large Team

BEREA, OHIO – Seven Baldwin-Wallace College male student-athletes were named to the 2009-10 Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference At-Large team. B-W’s seven selections were the most of any of the 10 OAC institutions.
Included in B-W’s selections were two golfers, two swimmers, one diver and two tennis players. The at-large category consists of student-athletes from the sports of wrestling, golf, swimming and diving and tennis.

The Yellow Jacket men’s golf team was represented by senior three-time All-OAC performer Nick Bryan (Zanesville/Rosecrans) and junior Brian Routhieaux (Gibsonia, Pa./ Mars Area).

The swimming and diving team was represented by junior six-time All-American diver Todd Richert (North Royalton), junior Matt Diamond (Ashtabula/Lakeside) and senior Jordan Irwin (Westerville/Westerville South).
The tennis team was represented by two-time All-OAC sophomore Alex Trzeciak (Avon Lake) and junior All-OAC selection Sam Burris (Wooster/Senior).
Bryan graduated Magna Cum Laude as a biology major with a 3.73 grade point average and earns his third straight at-large selection. He is a Dean’s List student, a member of the Dayton C. Miller honor society and a 2009 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District IV selection that is up for the honor again this year. As a senior, he earned his third top 10 finish (All-OAC) at the OAC Championship Tournament when he placed third with a two-day total of 147 (76-71). Bryan led B-W in stroke average during both the fall (76.25) and spring (76.54) seasons. He finished his career with a 77.38 stroke average and owns the top two seasonal stroke average in school history -- 74.00 in the fall of 2007 and 74.55 in the fall of 2008.
Routhieaux also earned Academic All-OAC At-Large honors last season. He is a business administration and accounting double-major with a 3.97 GPA and is a member of the Dayton C. Miller honor society. As a junior, he competed in eight tournaments and averaged 81.63 strokes per round.
Richert is an exercise science/physical therapy major with a 3.26 GPA. He is a Dean’s List student and a member of the B-W honors program. In 2009-10, he earned the fifth and sixth All-American honors of his career at the Division III National Championship meet. In each of his three seasons, Richert has earned All-American status in the one and three-meter diving events. He also earned the second OAC Diver of the Year award of his career in 2010. Richert is the most accomplished athlete in B-W swimming and diving history and owns every school diving record.

Diamond is a business administration major with a 3.75 GPA and is a repeat selection to the Academic At-Large team. He is a Dean’s List student and a member of the Alpha Lambda honor society. As a junior, Diamond served as a team captain and earned All-OAC honors with a pair of B-W relay teams including the champion 200-yard medley relay team. In each of his three seasons, Diamond has earned multiple All-OAC finishes at the OAC Championship meet.
Irwin is a business administration major with a 3.55 GPA and was awarded the Sportsmanship Award at the B-W Student-Athlete Awards Dinner. As a senior, Irwin served as a captain and earned All-OAC honors with the second-place 200-yard free relay team.
Trzeciak is a mathematical economics major with a 3.72 GPA. He also earned his second straight All-OAC honor, a first-team nod, for his play on the court in 2009-10. He posted a 17-8 record while competing strictly at the No. 1 singles position. Trzeciak was 8-1 during OAC competition and was a part of B-W’s No. 2 doubles duo that posted a 17-6 record. In two seasons, Trzeciak is 39-11 overall in singles play and 37-12 in doubles.
Burris is a business administration major with a 3.63 GPA. He also was an honorable mention All-OAC choice for his play this season. He competed mainly at No. 5 singles and posted an 18-5 record with an 8-1 mark in the OAC. In three seasons, Burris has a fine 60-14 singles record.
