Two Baldwin Wallace University Baseball Players named to the 2004 Academic All-OAC Team

BEREA, OHIO -- Two Baldwin Wallace University student-athletes and baseball players have been named to the 2004 Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference team. Both junior third baseman and pitcher Mike Turchan (Mayfield) and junior catcher Adam Pajakowski (South Bend, Indiana/ St. Joseph's) were honorable mention selections.

Turchan, who carries a 3.41 grade point average in sports medicine and athletic training, has already been named as a first-team CoSIDA Academic All-District IV selection and is currently listed on the national CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot. This spring, Turchan batted .383 with 12 doubles, four triples, eight homeruns and 40 runs batted-in for the 20-14 overall Yellow Jackets. He also had a 5-2 pitching mark with 2.78 earned run average with 45 strikeouts in 54 innings pitched. For his efforts on the field, Turchan was tabbed as a first-team All-OAC player.

Paj.jpgPajakowski, who carries a 3.63 grade average in business administration and accounting, is a three-year varsity player as a catcher. This season, Pajakowski batted .246 in 28 games, including 25 starts. He scored 11 runs, hit two homeruns and drove in 10 runs. In the field, he had a .948 fielding average and threw out 14 base stealers. Pajakowski is both a Dean's List student and a member of the Alpha Lambda Academic Honor Society.
