Women's 3,000-Meter Steeplechase
Notes: MIT senior Jacqui Wentz won the 3,000-meter steeplechase in a time of 10:16.16, the third best all-time in the history of Division III. Baldwin-Wallace junior Kim Chinn was second in 10:30.53 and last year's winner, Stephanie Perleberg of UW-La Crosse was third in 10:32.64.

How her 2009 fourth-place finish helped her this year: “It helped me to calm down and make me feel more comfortable already having the national experience I had from last spring down in southern Ohio. I knew I was going to be just as good as the other competitors that were out there. I just had to run my own race.”
How last year’s champion (Stephanie Perleberg (UW-LaCrosse) set the early pace and how it affected her race:“My race plan was to stay right behind the race leader no matter who was out there ahead of me. That was my plan until the final three laps. Then, I was going to push the pace, run my own race, and wanted to see where I was at during the bell lap. It did help that she went out early and set that early pace.”
Improving from the sixth-fastest time in history to today running the third-quickest mark: “I feel like I had a good performance in me today. A few weeks ago, I set my time to qualify to get in here. I knew if I ran my race, I could better that time and do well today. I am very proud of my performance today.”
