Women's 400-Meter Dash

Notes: Calvin College junior Rachel Boerner won the 400-meter title in a time of 54.50 seconds. Roanoke College senior Robin Yerkes was runner-up for the second year in a row with a time of 55.25 and Coe College sophomore Keelie Finnel was third in 55.30.
Rachel Boerner Quotes
What it feels like to be both indoor and outdoor national champion: “It feels really good. It feels good to go out there and run. My goal was to break 55 seconds, and I did that. It’s a great feeling, and something I can’t describe.”
What was your mental mindset headed into this event? “I was really nervous for the 400 open. My main event is the 400 hurdles. I kind of did the open as a team thing as we needed a person to do it. I had the confidence to stay with my other competitors, and I had that final kick to go out and edge them at the line.”
Expectations of her primary event the 400 Hurdles: “I hope to do really well in that also. I hope to get out and run a good race and finish first in that as well.”
