Men's Javelin Throw
Notes:
Concordia (Wisc.) senior Brock Solveson won his second consecutive men's javelin title with a throw of 219 feet, nine inches. Rowan senior Sean Biehn finished second while fellow Rowan senior Sean Corey finished third with North Park junior Lars Tenglin in fourth. Whitworth junior Alexander Hymel finished eighth for his second straight All-American honor.

Your thoughts on being a back-to-back national champion in this event: “I am so excited to be sitting in this chair right now. I spent a lot more time in the weight room over the past year. It definitely paid off, as I improved my personal record in this event by I think over four meters, so I am very happy about that. I’ve been throwing pretty consistent, better than I have in previous years, so that made me happy.”
The balancing act between two events going on at the same time: “It is very difficult and taxing, especially in this heat today. You don’t know how the timing of the events is going to fall together and into place. I have to run back and put on the right shoes as fast as you can depending which event I am going to compete in next. I actually missed my first throw in the shot put because I was still competing in the javelin finals. You definitely can’t put your focus on one event or one thing, so that can be challenging at times.”
Expectations about how finish in the decathlon: “I would love to finish in the top three at this moment. I know that if I keep working hard over the next events, and carry my momentum throughout those, I should put myself in pretty good position.”
