Notes: Salisbury senior Brandon Fugett won his second consecutive men's shot put title with a throw of 58 feet nine and one quarter inches. Wisconsin Stevens Point senior Kyle Scofield was second at 57'0.75" and Wisconsin La Crosse sophomore Andy Novak was third with a throw of 56'4.75".

Brandon Fugett Quotes
What he had to do to repeat as a national champion? ”I just had to prepare mentally. I know everyone was gunning for me. After that meet last year, I knew people were coming after me. I was out there throwing in the rain, in the snow, in the wind, and it stunk to be out there in those conditions, but I guess it paid off.”
His thoughts about what he accomplished today: “The pressure was definitely there today being that I was a national champion last year in the outdoor meet. I knew I had to do good this year, as my mom was here. She flew all the way out from California to be here today to see me throw. I knew I had to put on a show for her, and that’s what I did today. I was aware it was my last collegiate event, and I knew I had to go out big.”
Mindset going into his last throw, the eventual winning throw: “I just knew I had to put everything I had into it. I knew I couldn’t leave here and make the eight-hour drive back to Maryland not knowing that I didn’t try my hardest.”
