Notes: Gustavus Adolphus senior Max Hanson won the men's 800-meter run in a time of 1:49.50. Two-time defending champion Emmanuel Bofa of Whitworth was second in 1:50.43. Wisconsin Stevens Point senior Adam Lang was third in 1:52.79. Lang was fourth last year.

How does becoming a national champion in this race sound? “That sounds just tremendous! It’s a little bit overwhelming in the fact that it just happened and it hasn’t had time to sink in just yet.”
Walk us through your race: “Going into the race, I knew the two-time defending champion was in the race. He had the quickest time coming in, so I knew he would be a tough competitor today. I knew there were a lot of other great athletes in the field. I went out there and tried to run with the leaders and not let them get too far ahead. With about 200 meters to go, I just thought I was fighting for second place. He was out there and pulling away. With 100 meters to go, I thought I should give it one more shot. With 50 meters, I was starting to edge closer and closer. With five meters to go, I thought I could give one final push, and it all worked out in the end.”
