Baldwin-Wallace College Tennis Player Andrea Isaac and Track Standout Josh

Svenson Named as OAC players-of-the-week

BEREA, OHIO -- Baldwin-Wallace College junior tennis standout Andrea Isaac (New Philadelphia) and senior track standout Josh Svenson (Wadsworth) have been named today (Monday, April 10) as the Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week and OAC Men's Track Field Event Athlete of the Week, respectively.

Isaac earned the honor for her efforts in leading the Yellow Jackets to a 4-0 record last week, and individually, she was undefeated in both singles and doubles. In singles play, Isaac won all four of her matches in straight sets and won 46-of-57 games, and she and doubles partner, sophomore Meggie Glassburn (Canton/ Jackson), won all four of their matches and won 32-of-41 games played. The OAC Player of the Week honor is the fourth of Isaac's career, including a pair each of the past two years.

This season, Isaac has compiled an 18-4 overall singles record, including a 15-1 singles mark in dual matches for the 11-5 overall and 5-1 OAC Yellow Jackets. She has won 13 straight singles matches this season. Isaac also is 59-10 in her B-W career, including a then B-W freshman record 19 wins and a 19-1 record in 2003-2004 when she was the first-ever freshman named as the OAC Player of the Year. As a sophomore a year ago, Isaac reset the school-record for wins with 22 and had a 22-5 slate overall.

In doubles play, Isaac and Glassburn own a 17-5 overall mark this season, including a 12-2 slate in dual matches, including 13 straight wins. A year ago, the tandem had a school doubles-record 22 wins and a 22-5 mark overall. Isaac has a 53-15 career doubles mark and 112 career combination (singles and doubles) wins.

Isaac and the Yellow Jacket women are back in action tomorrow (April 11) when they host OAC and Cleveland cross-town rival John Carroll University at the "Pop" Collins Tennis Complex in Berea at 3:30 p.m. The match is B-W's final home match this season.

Svenson earned his OAC honor for his efforts in leading the Yellow Jacket men's track team to a sixth place finish at the Ohio Wesleyan University Marv Frye Invitational Meet last Friday (April 7) in Delaware, Ohio. At the Marv Frye Meet. Svenson won the shot put with a throw of 47-feet and five inches and the discus throw with a toss of 133'7". It is the first time that Svenson has been tabbed as an OAC Athlete of the Week.

Overall, Svenson is a four-year letterman in track who also played football. His B-W bests are a career-best throw of 49'8.5" in the shot put this spring, a season-best toss of 139'7" in the discus and a career-best throw of 139'8" in the discus a year ago at the 2005 OAC Championship Meet.

The Yellow Jacket track team is back in action this Saturday (April 15) when they travel back to OWU to compete at the 2006 All-Ohio Division III Championship Meet. Field events begin at 11:00 a.m.
