Conference Players-of-the-Week

BEREA, OHIO --  Three Baldwin Wallace University spring sport standouts, senior second baseman Kevin Brown (Cuyahoga Falls), junior pitcher Brian Pille (Lorain/ Catholic) and sophomore men's tennis All-OAC and number one singles player James Daly (Akron/ Firestone), have been named as OAC players-of-the-week.

Brown helped the Yellow Jackets to a pair of wins against Notre Dame College, 12-5, on Wednesday (Mar. 22) and Walsh University, 16-6, on Sunday (Mar. 26).  In those games, he went a combined four-of-six at the plate for a .667 hitting percentage with a double, six runs scored and five runs batted in included four RBI in the win against Notre Dame College.  For the season, Brown leads the team in batting average at .429 (18-of-42) with a team-leading 19 runs scored, a homerun, a triple, four doubles, and 11 RBI.

On the mound, Pille recorded his first collegiate win against Walsh. He pitched six innings allowing one earned run and striking out seven batters. For the season, Pille has made four total appearances including three starts.  He has a 6.14 earned run average and has 13 strikeouts in 14 and two-thirds innings pitched.

Daly helped the Yellow Jacket men's tennis team remain undefeated and improve to 12-0 overall and 1-0 in the OAC with a 4-3 victory against Mount Union College in the conference opener for both teams.  Daly defeated MUC's Kyle Moreland in straight sets to improve to 11-1 at the number one singles position for the season.  He also teamed up with teammate and number three singles player Jim Kucera (Mentor) at number one doubles and won his 13 match of the season and is 13-2 overall.  For his career, Daly has already accumulated 82 career victories in less than two full seasons.  This is Daly's second OAC Player-of-the-Week selection this season.

The Yellow Jacket baseball team is back in action on Tuesday, March 28 when they travel to Canton, Ohio to play Malone College in a single nine-inning game beginning at 1:00 p.m.  The men's tennis team is also in action on Tuesday (Mar. 28) when it travels to OAC and Cleveland cross-town rival John Carroll University in a conference dual match in University Heights at 3:30 p.m.
