Three Baldwin Wallace University Student-Athletes Are Named as Ohio Athletic
Conference Players-of-the-Week
BEREA, OHIO -- Baldwin Wallace University junior men's swimmer D.J. Mosiniak (Toledo/ St. Francis deSales) is this week's Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Swimmer of the Week. Junior women's swimmer Sara Gombash (Perrysburg/ Toledo Notre Dame Academy) is this week's OAC Women's Swimmer of the Week. And, senior wrestler Bryan Kmetz (Brunswick) is this week's OAC Wrestler of the Week.
Mosiniak earned his honor for his efforts in setting three Yellow Jacket school records (one individual and two in relay events). Gombash earned her honor for her solid efforts against NCAA Division I and II competition last week. Kmetz earned the honor for his 4-0 performance at the Olivet (Mich.) College Comet Duals last weekend.
Mosiniak, a business administration major, set an individual BW school-record in the 50-yard freestyle when he placed first with a time of 21.39 seconds in a meet at Div. I Cleveland State University. Also at CSU, Mosiniak was part of a record-setting performance in the 200-yard free relay. Then last weekend at a meet at Div. I Ball State (Ind.) University, Mosiniak again helped the 200 free relay team lower the school-record to 1:27.26 and swam on the record-setting 400-yard free relay team in 3:16.64.
Gombash, a biology and neuroscience major, was tabbed as an OAC Swimmer of the Week for the third time in the past two years. She earned her honor for her individual efforts in placing third in the 100-yard butterfly (1:01.91) and seventh in the 200-yard individual medley (2:21.85) and swimming on the second place 200-yard medley relay at CSU. Individually at Ball State, Gombash was fourth in the 100 butterfly (1:00.86) and sixth in the 200-yard butterfly (2:16.67). She is the BW school and the OAC record-holder in both butterfly events.
Kmetz, a fitness management major, had a 4-0 record at Olivet and improved his seasonal mark to 7-0 and earn the second OAC Wrestler of the Week honor in his career. At Olivet, Kmetz won twice by pin, once by major decision and the other by decision and helped BW to a 2-2 team record. Kmetz has a 56-11 career mark with 10 pins and has been the OAC runner-up at 285 pounds each of the past two years.
