How did Baldwin-Wallace College affect your career plans?
I have used my education from Baldwin-Wallace to help me achieve my goal of being published both locally and on a national scale. Through my coursework, I developed my writing skills. Currently, my writing is being published on a frequent basis, and I am a writing coach for the Power of the Pen Team at Shiloh Middle School in Parma.
Why did you choose the adult degree completion program at B-W?
I liked the quality of professors who taught me and the small class sizes. The courses were challenging and the professors were outstanding. These attributes allowed me to achieve a greater understanding of the material and to have quality interaction with my professors. The entire evening staff of the English department was beneficial. In particular, Dr. Theodore Harakas, Dr. Nancy Wurzel, and Dr. Susan Oldrieve were very helpful.
What was your experience with accelerated course formats?
I loved the minimester (accelerated) courses because I could get two classes accomplished in the same amount of time that one class would have taken. Yet, I still achieved the depth of knowledge required to pass the course. Accelerated classes were faster paced and more intense, but I knew what to expect when I enrolled in them. They were great!
Please list any internships, scholarships, or B-W extra-curricular involvement:
I was awarded the Ruby Redinger Prize in English in 2003. As an adult degree completion student, I served on two committees for Alpha Sigma Lambda, the national honorary for Evening/Weekend students.
