Transfer Spotlight

Lori Kusterbeck

Anticipated graduation year: May, 2006

Degree/Major: Bachelor of Arts with a double major in Philosophy and Economics

Career plans:  My ultimate goal is to earn a graduate degree and teach at Tri-C.  I transferred from the Eastern Campus of Tri-C and loved the variety of people who took classes there. I’d love to be able to contribute back what I’ve been given.

How did your courses transfer to B-W from other institutions?
I transferred from Tri-C with my Associate of Arts degree and transferred 62 credit hours. This allowed me to not only complete a Philosophy major, but also to pick up Economics as a second major without spending additional time here. I will successfully complete my bachelor's degree with both majors in 2 years!

What is your campus involvement outside the classroom?
I am involved with the Philosophy club.  Also, I had a couple of poems selected to be published in B-W’s literary magazine, The Mill.

Please share an experience with a faculty person that strongly influenced you and/or benefited you.
I have a professor, Dr. Robert Ebert, who recognized my passion for a certain area of Economics and has willingly given up some of his summer to teach and guide me in this interest.  It says a lot that he has faith in me as a student and wants to see me excel. That’s a truly dedicated teacher!

How is B-W supporting or preparing you to attain your goals?
Everything that I have encountered during my time here has either been supportive or preparatory; from the Admission Office, to the professors, to the coursework and the available opportunities. I truly feel that I’m not only gaining knowledge, but the ability to know how to actually use it successfully.
