How has your degree from Baldwin-Wallace College paid off in terms of your career?
As an adult degree completion student at Baldwin-Wallace College, I wanted to earn a respected degree in Finance so that I could enter the field of Corporate Finance or Investment Banking. While I was a student at B-W, I was employed with a company that specialized in corporate jet remodeling and refurbishments. It was a good job but not what I wanted longterm in a career. I really wanted to work in the financial industry. I got my first interview with National City Bank through the Career Services Office at Baldwin-Wallace. Several interviews later, I had a job offer with National City Bank contingent upon my graduation from B-W that May. My current position with National City Bank is a significant career move for me, much more responsibility, and an increase in salary too. I'm very pleased with my experience at B-W, and with my employment outlook now that I'm carrying a bachelor's degree from Baldwin-Wallace College. Now I'm looking into getting my MBA.
Why did you choose Baldwin-Wallace's adult degree completion program?
I chose B-W because of its excellent reputation and the flexible scheduling offered in the Evening Weekend program. I had earned an Associate of Arts degree from TriC and knew that all of my credit hours would transfer. After meeting with some of the staff members at Baldwin-Wallace, I was confident that I would have a good experience. Also, B-W has small class sizes which allows more interaction with professors.
What was your campus involvement outside the classroom? I was a member of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity and S.I.F.E. (Students In Free Enterprise).
What advice would you give someone looking for an adult completion program?
Every experience at B-W is a learning opportunity. I enjoyed the classroom material and the interactions with professors and other students. But choose a college that's supportive in more ways than just academics. Baldwin-Wallace College is supportive in all its services too ... from the Admission Office to Career Services and Academic Advising. Mary Ann English, my Admission Counselor, was very helpful in my transfer to B-W, and my advisor was always there for me. From suggestions and recommendations for scholarships to planning my course schedules toward graduation, they have made attending college in the adult degree completion program very simple for me at B-W.
