The Honors Program is designed for inquisitive, motivated students invested in probing coursework more rigorously. Students in the program take a series of seminars emphasizing critical thinking, interdisciplinary dialogue, and the context and evolution of ideas. In these small, discussion-based classes, they have the opportunity to develop mentoring relationships with their professors. Upon graduation, honors students in good standing receive acknowledgment on their transcripts.

What do current students think about the Honors Program at B-W?

"Participating in the Honors Program has challenged me to re-examine the way I view the world and the way I see myself. My involvement in the program has given me the opportunity to really get to know students and professors from varying disciplines. I appreciate these unique perspectives and have become a better person as a result.”   Alicia Gordon

“Coming from a high school where honors courses were a large part of my education, the opportunity to continue this tradition at Baldwin-Wallace was one that I could not refuse. The Honors Program at B-W gave me the chance to learn about disciplines that are not closely related to my major yet are crucial for gaining a well-rounded base of knowledge. I gained a respect for other fields of study while strengthening my critical thinking skills. Through my honors courses, I learned about such varied topics as ancient philosophy, family diversity, the structure of volcanoes, the laws of economics, and twentieth century film culture. I highly recommend the Honors Program to any student who wishes to get the most out of his or her liberal arts education.” Mary Assad

“I entered the Honors Program so that I could maintain the high level of academic standard that was familiar from high school honor and AP classes. I was in for more than just a challenging course load! The Honors Program provided interdisciplinary elements and discussions in my classes that focused on ideas that relate to my personal ethics and beliefs, not just the academic aspect of college. Experiential learning opportunities helped reinforce lessons and concepts that I will continue to explore for the rest of my life. Plus, I entered a support system of older honors students who were eager to share their expertise on college life.” Jillian Kramer
