The application for being an RA next year just came out and it got me thinking that I might want to be an RA. I love having opportunities to meet new people and foster new relationships. I also love the thought of being able to peer mediate, help people with anything they are having problems with, or just “be there” as a person who they can trust telling their problems as well as share good things that are happening in their lives.
I have had very good experiences with my current RA’s on the third floor of North Hall. Both are really nice and always have cool programs for residents to take part in. It is a really great feeling of family that they have fostered on our floor. I want to be able to do that with people. It would be a great experience for me especially as a public relations major who will have to work closely with people. I know that there are downsides to being an RA, too. I’m definitely not looking forward to busting residents for underage drinking but I think in the end the benefits will outweigh the costs.
