This past week was spring break, and I had the opportunity to go visit my grandma in North Carolina. My grandma lives in the Appalachian mountains near Boone (the town that Appalachian State University is located). It is a beautiful area of the country. The mountains are nicknamed the “blue ridge mountains” because when mist comes up over them they give off a blue haze. My grandma’s house is right off the blue ridge parkway which is a famous road that a lot of bike gangs and vacationers drive. It is famous for its winding curves and beautiful views.
I didn’t get to do a lot of the things that I normally do when I go to my grandmas because my ankle is still healing from my accident. I usually go running almost every day, and I really missed doing that. It was pretty nice out for a couple of days. I sat outside and got a sunburn. Bleh! My pale Alaskan skin can’t handle any sun. I also got to tag along with my grandma and volunteer at her church. I taught native Spanish speakers English. It was a great learning experience for me. All in all I had a good time spending time with my grandma over spring break!
