Last Saturday I had the opportunity to attend the Northeast Ohio Housing Officers Conference. NEOHO is a big event where resident assistants come from all over northeast Ohio to give presentations on their experiences. I didn’t present this year, but I did get to go to some pretty awesome presentations. Some students from Cleveland Institute of Art did a program presentation where they showed everyone how to make a patch. I think I will duplicate their idea within my own hall. It was a really fun program.
Another guy from Cleveland State University presented on how being an RA is similar to the rules laid down by Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs. He went through all of the rules and how they pertain to being an RA. The third presentation I went to was another program called “Family Feud: Relationships.” It is basically like the popular game show Family Feud and tests contestants’ ability to understand how to navigate a successful relationship. One of the other RAs in my building and myself hope to duplicate this for our residents next month.
All in all, the conference was fun and interesting. It was almost canceled because of the bad weather, but we were able to get there safely (only an hour late).
