Lazy Days in the Frozen Arctic

Being away from school and without a set schedule or classes to go to is a strange feeling. It is both very satisfying and a little bit boring. I’m not saying that I miss school in any way, shape, or form. I’m just putting an observation out there.

I was sitting in the family music room reading a book when I looked out the window and saw this view of my back yard and the ice fog covering the city of Fairbanks. My house is on a hill and we have a BEAUTIFUL view of the city on a clear day. Because we live in the hills, our air is not affected by ice fog. Ice fog is a fog formed by car exhaust contained and trapped by the cold atmosphere close to the ground. Ice fog makes driving at very cold temperatures dangerous because it is often difficult to see what color a traffic light 15 feet in front of you is.

These views are what make my lazy Christmas break days interesting.
