My First Week Home

Well, I’m back in Ohio! I kept telling myself that I missed the cold weather… Ya know, the 80’s and sunshine were just bugging me too much. Ha! Just kidding.

So, the flight from Australia to Los Angeles is around 13 hours. I was hoping that I would be able to take a nice long 12 hour nap on the flight—I WAS WRONG. I only slept an hour. By the time I landed in LA I was tired, cranky and paying overage fee for one overweight bag. But no worries mates, I rushed off to a little diner and got a nice turkey sandwich and fries! Once I was full, I was much more pleasant.

Before I knew it I was fast asleep on my 4.5 hour flight from LA to Cleveland. I landed in Cleveland and practically ran to baggage claim to see my family. Yep, I cried. Cried like a little baby when I saw my family. It was a moment of pure happiness. I loved Australia, but seeing my family—whew, it is impossible to explain the feeling I felt. Soon, we were out the airport doors and I was FREEZING! See, I wanted to keep the Aussie feeling, so naturally, I was wearing a t-shirt, shorts and flip-flops when took my first step outside of the heated airport and I RAN to my Dad’s truck as fast as I could. Woof. It was cold.

We scurried off to my favorite restaurant… MAYA. It is a fantastic Mexican restaurant near Baldwin Wallace. It is my go to place. I ate so fast. Like, SO FAST. Before I knew it, I was home and cuddled up in bed.

The past few days, I have been sleeping, eating and visiting friends. I made it to Baldwin Wallace on 11/28 and I was beyond happy to see so many friends. Not to mention, I LOVE all of the new improvements BW has made to campus. It feels like a brand new school with the same awesome people!

I am struggling to get my internal clock back to American time, but I don’t mind it too much… It is just like my body is making sure I don’t forget my wonderful experiences in Australia.

Until next time… Pat
