Being that BW has a great relationship with PlayhouseSquare in Cleveland, the Theatre Department lists events going on at Playhouse all the time on the call board at Kleist, which can be viewed by anyone! Sign ups for audition slots at BW, ushering, and so much more are posted there and usually anyone can jot their name down. In this case there is a program called "Backstage with...", which is hosted by NPR personality Scott Simon and focuses on interviewing professionals in the performing arts. Jeff Herrmann, the head of the Theatre Department at BW, secured myself and two others seats at "Backstage with... Fred Willard and Martin Mull," after I emailed him and expressed an interest in going. The event was hysterical and we gained insight into the two actor's lives, struggles, and successes. The entire thing was filmed, with me being part of the studio audience! Very cool. There was also an opportunity to ask questions at the end, which I took advantage of, and then we were able to meet Fred Willard in the lobby after it was over. All in all, it was one of the best memories I've had at BW and I'm so thankful I was able to experience it.
