Switching to Lacrosse

Lacrosse is a major growing sport across the nation.  Here at BW, we are in our first year of having a lacrosse team as a club sport.  The following year, lacrosse will be an actual (varsity) sport.  I’ve had no interest in the sport of lacrosse, nor did I even know what it really was.  Just recently in November I was invited to attend a practice for a day and see if I would be interested.  Currently, I was interested in just playing football.  But allowing myself to get out of my comfort zone and into a different realm opened me up to something that was very exciting for me.  I was very heavy on football as a sport, and after tearing my first ACL, I was very determined to make a recovery to the sport.  Then along came lacrosse and I found something completely different.  I quickly fell in love with the sport, and would practice every single day.

It’s sad to say that I fell off of football, but I love that I am actually into something that I am more passionate about.  Though it is very hard to be around my friends who still play and constantly talk football, (leaving me to feel like an outcast) will be hard to attend future football games because of my love for the game, a major aspect of college is about finding new experiences and making changes that molds you into a better you.  Lacrosse makes me happier and stress free.  Everything about the game, the players, my teammates and just doing something completely out the ordinary for me is too good to explain.  Overall, I am more than happy to make the switch from football to lacrosse.  Sometimes you have to step out of your comfort zone to find out what you really like.  Always be open to new ideas and take advantage when you can seize the opportunity.
