Bachelor of Science
Middle Childhood Education
One of the main reasons why I decided to go to BW was to swim on the Varsity Swimming & Diving team and was named co-captain my senior year. Besides athletics I was also involved in Greek Life and was a member of Alpha Phi sorority and was also on the Executive Panhellenic Council. Additionally, I worked in the Office of Community Outreach, was a College 101 CA and also an orientation leader.
After graduating from BW in 2008 I accepted a job with the Rocky River City School District and have been teaching 9th grade Math and Science. In addition, I have also served as the head swimming & diving coach at Rocky River High School.
Questions and answers
What advice would you give to prospective students?
I would tell any prospective or current student to get involved on campus. Try attending new events or join an organization because the more involved you are on campus the better your overall BW experience will be!
How did BW help you prepare for life after college?
BW provided me with a variety of resources to not only fine tune my teaching skills but it also provided me with opportunities to enhance my leadership skills. Some of the most beneficial experiences were my pre-student teaching and student teaching experiences because I was placed in a wide variety of districts as well as age levels of children. After graduating I felt confident going into interviews because I knew that I had already had the opportunity to work with all ranges of children within my certification.
What would you have changed about your undergraduate experience?
One thing I would have changed about my undergraduate experience was that I wish I would have utilized the study abroad experiences that BW offers.
