Psychology & Child and Family
From the very beginning of my time at BW I made campus involvement one of my top priorities. I am currently the Student Director of a leadership group on campus called Leaders Striving For Success, the Vice President of National Student Speech-Language-Hearing Association, and am also an Orientation Leader. I was also Sophomore Class Officer where I helped plan the Homecoming festivities, and was also a member of the woman's basketball team for two years. I am involved in a Student-Faculty Collaboration project with several other students in the Communications Disorders major.
Questions and answers
Why did you choose to attend Baldwin-Wallace?
I chose to attend BW because I felt it was a wonderful place with caring faculty, friendly students and tremendous resources and opportunities. My father attended BW for his Master's degree and my older brother also attended BW. After hearing all of the stories and experiences they had here at BW, I couldn't find a reason not to become a Yellow Jacket!
What is your favorite thing about BW?
My favorite thing about BW is the personable relationships that I have created with the faculty. I have been given several of my professors personal cell phone numbers and encouraged to contact them if I ever need anything. For the president to know you by name and stop and ask how everything is going is just one example of how personable and friendly the faculty at BW is.
What has BW helped you learn about yourself?
BW is a diverse and accepting place. I have learned that I can work with anyone whether we have similar backgrounds or not. I have learned to be more outgoing and independent during my first years here at BW.
What advice would you give to prospective students?
I would tell them to follow their hearts and choose a school that feels like a second home. Choose an active campus with many organizations and get involved early on! Yes, the main purpose of attending college is to receive a degree and begin a career. However, my college experience would not feel complete without all of the co and extra-curricular opportunities I have been fortunate enough to be involved in.
