BY A COUNTRY MILE

Last spring I starting singing with a local band, Country Mile, and as I've written about before, I stayed in Berea just near BW's campus last summer for a summer stock musical, Smokey Joe’s Café, which I performed in, at Cain Park in Cleveland Heights.  I also performed with the band at many greater Cleveland venues all through the summer.  Unfortunately, I  never was able to sing with them throughout the fall and winter of this year due to my school obligations including Carousel and Carrie rehearsals/performances.  I missed it but I haven’t had time to miss it too much until the last couple weeks.

I recently got back in contact with Country Mile and started going to practices a couple times a week. The originator of the band and lead guitar player lives in Parma which is just 10 minutes from my dorm on Baldwin Wallace University’s campus.  My friend Jarred, who plays electric guitar, and I have also been writing some original songs but they're not ready to play out yet. I got to have my first reunion gig last Saturday night at Paddy Rock Pub on Lorain Avenue in Cleveland.  It was so great to be back singing music that I love and jamming out with these talented musicians. We played three 12, or so, song sets until about 1am to a packed and animated bar crowd.  It's always rewarding playing out with people who love music as much as I do and being approached by strangers who love what we do.  We have lots of gigs coming up in the area that I'm very excited about and hope to see even more familiar faces in the audience next time too!
