Yes, the home of the beautiful campus of Baldwin Wallace University, Berea Ohio, is a small town, but it is a nice cozy community and is also the home of the huge Cleveland Hopkins International Airport and is situated less than 20 minutes from bustling Downtown Cleveland. It's an ideal location for a music theatre major with the nation’s second largest theatre district, after NYC, Playhouse Square being so nearby. I will say, I could take advantage of all that Cleveland has to offer more easily if I had a car here at school, but alas, I do not at this time.
This past Saturday, I was able to ride along with friends to the huge South Park Mall in Strongsville, also just a short drive away from Berea, for my first real shopping trip since arriving at college, unless you count thrift store shopping (always a win). The boys I was with left me on my own, after they saw the glow in my eyes when we entered the mall. I ended up spending 80 dollars, which I didn't really have to spare, but have no regrets. After I recreated my wardrobe’s style a wave of inspiration came over me to give myself the haircut I've always wanted. So, I self-cut '60's bangs into my hair.
Then on Sunday my friends and I planned a trip to the Cleveland Museum of Art, to feed our souls with some great works of art, including several original Picassos. We were in awe as we walked through the museum of how modernized art has become, and marveled at some of the earliest, most famous works. We discovered one of the best parts was that the CMA and all the other surrounding museums have free admission. Just the right price for a college student. We ended our inspiring day with some deliciously inspired dishes (and a few cannolis) from Presti's Café and Deli, in Cleveland's Little Italy. A perfect weekend all about rediscovery, reinvention, and re-inspiration!
