Certificate Program in Leadership

The Certificate Program in Leadership is designed to enhance leadership skills, building knowledge and strategies to achieve organizational goals.  It provides a foundation for managing and leading in today’s team-based organizations.

B-W Certificate Programs build focused knowledge in a career-relevant area without requiring that students complete an entire degree program.  Certificates update and enhance career credentials.  All courses for this program are available in the Evening & Weekend College, and may be completed on a part-time schedule.  Certificate courses may be used to meet bachelor’s degree requirements.

The Certificate in Leadership requires six college courses, for a total of 18-20 semester hour credits.  Two of the six courses may be transferred from other accredited colleges and universities.

The following four courses are required:

 LDR 201  Introduction to Leadership Studies  3 Credits
 LDR 202  Contemporary Leadership Problems  3 Credits*
 BUS 305  Introduction to Management  3 Credits
 BUS 409  Behavioral Theories of Management  3 Credits*

Choose one of the following:

 BUS 263  Team Building  3 Credits
 PSY 320  Industrial/Organizational Psychology  4 Credits*
 PSY 321  Human Relations and Group Dynamics  3 Credits*

Choose one of the following:

 SOC 106  Organizations and Work

  3 credits

 SOC 301  Social Inequalities   3 credits *
 PSY 339  Social Psychology   3 credits *
